To Orlando

I haven’t blogged for a while now. No particular reason, mostly from a lack of words. And if you know me, then you’ll know that I never want to put something half-hearted out there. So, I’ve been silent.

But today, I found words.

Boy, do I have some words for you.

And,

what I want to say today is, to those affected by Orlando,

I am with you.

I am heartbroken with you. I am hurting with you. I am on my knees with you.

And I am so very sorry.

For the responses you have received after the cold blooded murders and injuries of your loved ones.

And I need to speak out because not enough people are.

Because, our first and only response,

should be love.

And truly because,

everyone,

EVERY SINGLE PERSON,

has worth. Has meaning. Has value.

Every single life,

is priceless.

It doesn’t matter who you are.

Friend or acquaintance. Family or stranger. Spouse or companion. Black or white. Orange or brown. Gay or straight. Healthy or sick. Born or unborn. Christian or Muslim. Old or young.

All life,

is utterly precious.

And, so many of us fail to recognize that.

Fail to see the life, the incomparable life, of those around us.

So, to Orlando,

I am sorry.

For your loss.

For your pain.

For your heartbreak.

And for the way that many in our country, and our world, have responded.

Because, those lives, each and every single one of them,

they mattered.

Infinitely.

Undoubtedly.

Completely.

And, it’s because of those souls, and your soul, and my soul, that Jesus came to this earth.

Out of unquenchable love, sweet adoration,

for us.

Not because of who we are or what we did or how we acted,

but solely,

out of love.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” -John 3:16

Holding onto hope,

Nikki
